Halloween is a rather new thing in Japan. But the Japanese youth in particular seem to have adopted the dressing up part of it. Every year near Halloween in Tokyo, there is a massive gathering of people wearing Halloween costumes around Shibuya station. As Halloween was on a Monday this year, the festivities in Shibuya were during the weekend and on Monday. I visited the area during early evening on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There were A LOT of people – and it seemed the amount of people doubled by each day.
I had an absolutely amazing time with a lot of photo opportunities. There was a great mix of sexy, cute, scary, and funny costumes. People were generally in a really good mood. This kind of collective happiness was different from what I have experienced in Tokyo before, where normally everyone minds their own business.
All photos were shot with my Fuji X100s.
